November in Amsterdam: Somber Weather and Indoor Events

November is a good month to visit Amsterdam. The cold weather is the perfect excuse to attend one of the many indoor events. They include the arrival of Sinterklaas, the Dutch Santa, High Times Cannabis Cup and International Documentary Festival.

Grab the opportunity to visit Van Gogh Museum and Anne Frank House without waiting in the long queues, typical of the summer season. If you want to play absolutely safe, get your tickets online. Sit in a grand café and sip frothy cappuccino while watching cyclists brave the rain. Gobble scrumptious apple pie with a dollop of whipped cream, a wedge so large that you can skip your evening meal.

November weather is somber, by 5 o’clock it is dark. This is the ideal time to stroll along magically lit canals in the Red Light District. The holiday crowd has disappeared and you will share the city with only Amsterdamers. Airfares and hotel prices are low. What are you waiting for? Pack your bags and spend a weekend or longer in Amsterdam.
